Zeke's First Trip to the ER

A couple of nights ago we had quite a nerve-wrenching adventure. It was the end of a normal day and so we were going through Zeke's little bed time routine. I changed his diaper and then I was about to put on pajamas when I noticed that Zekes legs were undeniably gray. I made Trustin come and look just to make sure I wasn't crazy, and he confirmed that they were very gray. The color was an indication that Zeke's legs had poor circulation. His legs still felt warm, and it seemed like blood was flowing to them acording to all the other signs that Trustin tried, but there was a distinctive line on his thighs where his cute pink little body suddenly became dreary purple-gray. I immediately called my dad and he said he hadn't heard of that happening in children, but it didn't sound good at all. He recommended that we get Zeke into a quick care or the ER right away, just to make sure Zeke was okay. Unfortunately we had just missed closing time of the nearby Quick-Care by 15 minutes and so to the ER we went. As we were driving to the hospital I couldn't help but get overwhelmed with guilt. The only thing I could think of that would have cut off circulation to his legs was if I had put his diaper on too tight, or that fact that I had put him in a size 3 month onesie under his clothes when he is 5 1/2 months. So this runs through my mind simultaneos to my fears that he has some severe disease, or his legs may be crippled in the future, or something else drastic. Not such happy thoughts. Trustin had given Zeke a blessing before we left and I think that is the only reason I wasn't crying. I had crazy fears, but I also seemed to know that I was overreacting and things would be okay. Oh how right I was! After an hour and half in the waiting room, we talked to the doctor for 2 minutes before he asked the nurse for some alcohol swabs, starting rubbing off something blue and informed us that Zeke was suffering from a case of bleeding pant dye! "Well I feel sheepish!" We were thoroughly embarrassed but took consolation in the fact that the doctor told us he sees it all the time. Even adults come in freaking out because something is wrong with their legs. The funny thing is, Trustin had thought of that and had tried washing Zeke's legs before we left, but apparently soapy water didn't reveal the truth as obviously as the alcohol wipes!

In other news, Zeke had his first food this week other than rice cereal: Avocado! He actually liked it! He always tried to grab the spoon and pull it to his mouth. Unfortunately, he occasionly grabbed the spoon by the food!

New to Blogging

So I've finally given in to the craze. But I confess, I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing. I need all the blogging help I can get. I've spent that last twenty minutes trying to figure out how people have "about me" type descriptions on their blogs of more than one person. No luck. I greatly appreciate any help in this blogging world. Oh, while I'm at, how do you change the part where it says "posted by __" so that we can distinguish when Trustin and I post? Again, I'm hopeless.

I've been reading other blogs and I feel this great call to wittiness, yet as of yet I'm not answering.

I'm laughing as I write this, because so far we haven't even told anyone that we have a blog. This might make it more difficult for anybody to answer my need of help.

Well, I guess all there is to be said tonight is that as I have fiddled with pictures and looked at my husband and son I just feel so incredibly blessed to have my two boys.

Zeke is already becoming a soccer star! He really loves balls of any sort... or just anything that he can put in his mouth. He gummed the corner off of a nerf football after church yesterday. I guess we had better move on to more sturdy balls for the little fella. He thought it was great though til I took the ball away from him. Sorry Zeke.
