Behold your little ones

As we were driving home from church today:

Trustin  "What did you learn about in church today?"

Zeke "sciptures"

Trustin "Oh scriptures?"

Zeke "scipture stories... are true"

Trustin "The scriptures are true?"

Zeke  "dep"

And another sweet story that I forgot to post about but that I want to remember:

About a week after Ashlynn was born Trustin decided to give Zeke a blessing to help him with all of changes of a new baby and living in a hotel.  After the blessing Zeke asked Trustin to give Mommy and Ashes blessings too.  In the middle of blessing Ashlynn Trustin feels an extra little hand on Ashlynn's head.  I held his hands back for the rest of the blessing but shortly afterwards Zeke walks over to Ashlynn and put both of his hands on her head again.  A bit confused on priesthood authority, but what a sweet little cutie.

Life in a Hotel-House

So life around here is about the same.  We are still living in our lovely hotel and expect that it will be another two weeks or so before we are finally home.  We call this our "hotel house" and when we talk about our real house Zeke always said "my house broken."  It is kind of cute and kind of sad.  The good news is that I think we've been here long enough that Zeke doesn't seem to feel homesick anymore.  There is a field with several "digger trucks" to watch digging and in the parking lot there are a plethora of fire hydrants to walk by every day.  To Zeke nothing quite says happiness like a fire hydrant, although a fire truck is even better!

Trustin's parents came down for a couple days and Zeke had a ball with them.

For FHE last week we took Zeke to a nearby carousel that is free during the summer.  Thanks to Zeke's first visit to Panda Express the week before Zeke's favorite animal to ride was the Panda, although "White Max" a white horse, made a close second.

Ashlynn thought this all was so exciting...

So our little lady is growing out of control.  If the scale in our friendly Marriott weight room is to be believed she is close to 10 pounds!  So she has gained about a pound a week.  Apparently my milk is good stuff.  I love kissing her little pudgy cheeks!  Ashlynn has very expressive eyebrows sometimes.  When I kiss her she often opens her eyes really wide and raises her eyebrows like "whoa, what was that?!"  And I sat with the camera pointed at her face for several minutes trying vainly to capture one of her silliest faces on film.  Since I didn't succeed, you'll have to imagine it for now: she goes a little bit cross eyed and puckers her lips, too cute!

This is another popular face around here:  She sticks her tongue out all the time, kind of like she is tasting the air.

And then there is this silly nut.

He is still silly.

He likes to play Hide-and-Zeke.  But he's a bit confused.  When somebody else hides he pretends not to know where they are hiding (hmm, I think kids are smarter than we think, because I know where he picked up that habit.).  But it is even cuter when he hides.  When we finish counting rather than stay hidden he quickly jumps out to scare us.

When he is looking for something or someone, hide and seek or regular lost item moments, he calls out "Are Woody?" "Are Mommy?" etc. or he asks "Where Mommy are?"

He used to say "dah" for "yes,"  now he says "dep."

Trustin tried to play "lava" with him last night.  We didn't think Zeke had any clue what lava was but when Daddy said that the carpet was lava Zeke burst into tears.  Trustin amended it to luke warm lava and showed Zeke how to throw his blanket onto the carpet so he could stand on that to rescue toys.  Zeke would stand on the blanket and then walk on the carpet pick up the toy, and the blanket and bring them back to the bed.  He thought the lava game was great.

So that is our latest in a nutshell. I've had lots of time to work on my schoolwork (crazy what you can get done when you don't have a house to maintain...maybe this hotel thing, with maid service really isn't too bad), Trustin keeps busy at work and then the rest of the time we are playing with two cutie kids.  Life is good.

A Genuine Vampire Hunter

Just a quick post to highlight a moment of my morning yesterday.

I met a vampire hunter.  A real one.  Or so he insisted.

It all began as we waited outside the library.  Ashlynn was sleeping away in her carseat with a cotton car-seat canopy covering her up.  A man approached/reproached me for not letting my child breathe.

You see, he was a vampire hunter, he knows these things.  He lives underground and he built his home with vents so he can breathe.  He is a professional mathmetician, that is how he knew how to built it.  You could be standing right on top of him and never know it, but he can breathe because of the vents.  He can't see anything like that on Ashlynn's carseat, so naturally, he was very concerned.

Also, vampires are completely real.  He has seen them and my children are potential targets.  He has even written a 4 page paper on them.  Whoa! They must be real; this is serious.

Thank you Mr. Vampire Hunter for making my day!
